IELTS – Information

The International English Language Testing System is commonly known as IELTS. This system measure the language proficiency of people or students who wants to study or work in abroad where English language is used as the main communication language. This system use the nine band scale to clearly identify level of proficiency which is start from band scale one (non-user) to band scale nine(expert) IELTS is most famous test in the world to test language ability, more than 2.5 million IELTS test are taken each year. IELTS is commonly available in two test versions academic IELTS and general IELTS.

IELTS Academic

This types of test is for those people who is applying for higher education or professional registration in international country or English speaking country. This test reflects the some of the features of academic language if you are ready to begin studying or traning.

IELTS General Training

This types of test is for those people who is migrating to Australia, Canada , New Zealand and the UK , or who is applying for secondary education , training programs and work experience in an English speaking countries. This version of test focuses on basic survival skills in the broad social and workplace contexts.
These both the test system or both the version provided the valid and accurate test of four language skills consisting listening, speaking, reading and writing. These  Both the test is acceptable for all standard varieties of native speaker English .

IELTS test format:

The IELTS test measure your abilities in four steps: reading, writing, listening, speaking in less than three hours. The listening, reading, writing, test of IELTS are completed on the same day, with no time gap between them. But the speaking test may be complete up to a week before or after the other testes.

Listening Test

Listening test should complete within 30 minutes. In this time you will listen to four audios or native English speakers and then you need to write to the series of questions. These four audios may such types:

Audio One:

 in this audio you will listen the conversation between two people set in an everyday in social context.

Audio Two:

 in this audio you need to listen the monologue carefully about social context, like local facilities, food, dress, culture etc. then you need to answered the questions carefully.

Audio Three:

 in this audio you may listen the conversation between four people about an educational training context, like university tutor, students discussing about an assignments etc.

Audio Four:

 in this audio you need to listen the monologue about the academic subjects like university lecture and answered the questions carefully.
In these test the examiner will looking for the evidence of your ability to understand the main ideas and detailed information. They also check the ability to understand the attitude of speakers, the purpose of an utterance and they will also search the evidence of your ability to follow the development of ideas.

Reading Test:

The reading test consists of forty questions you should solve these forty question within one hour. This reading test is designed to test the wide range of reading and understanding skill. These kind of test include reading for gist, reading for min ideas, reading for detail, skimming, understanding the logical argument and recognizing the writers opinions, attitudes and purpose through the article. The reading test format for IELTS Academic test and IELTS general training test is different. IELTS Academic test include three long texts which range from the descriptive and factual to the discursive and analytical, these may taken from books, journals, magazines and newspapers. IELTS General Training test include extract from newspapers, advertisements, company handbook and guidelines which are the materials you are likely to encounter on a daily basis in an English-speaking environment.

Writing Test:

Writing test is hour of exam. Examiner takes this exam to ensure the ability of express and representation. There is different writing test for IELTS academic and IELTS General training. In IELTS Academic the topic are general interest. In this test you need to preform two task:

task 1: in this task you need to presented or show the  graph, table, chart or diagram and they may asked to describe, summaries or explain the information in your own word and own style. You need to describe and explain data, describe the stages of a process, how something do or how something works and may describe an object or event. In task two you need to write an essay in response to a point of view, arguments or problem.

IELTS General Training:

The topic of general interest is also two tasks:
Task one: in this task you need to write a letter requesting information, or explaining the situation , requirements , applying etc. The letter may be personal , official or business.
In task two you will be asked to write an essay in response to a point of view, arguments or problems, the essay most be written on your own words and personal style.

Speaking test:

This is 14 to 15 minutes of test. In this test assesses your use of spoken English. This test consists of three parts:
Part 1- in this test examiner will ask you common questions about yourself , about your family, work, hubbies and interest , studies etc. this pars take 4 to five minutes.
Part 2- in this part they will give you a card which asks you to talk about a particular topic. For they you may have one minutes of time to be prepared to speak up to two minutes. They will ask some question on the same topic.
Part 3- in this part they will asked further questions about the topic in part two. This part take time between four to five minutes.


After evaluating your overall performance and score you will be given final score is called IELTS score.
